2013 and the new version of my website about-scuba-diving.com, which I originally created in 2001, got online.
I am a patient diver since 1987. I started learning scuba diving with CMAS, discovered PADI, and got my PADI Instructor certification in January 1991. Later I worked as a certified Staff Instructor at the PADI European College in Cannes, France.
I have been working as an instructor or dive operation manager in different countries like France, Jordan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the Philippines.
I discovered the underwater world of the Philippines in 1992 and spend nearly ten years “kicking sand on the beach”. After Atlantis Dive Resort in Sabang, Puerto Galera, where I did my last job as dive center manager, and a few 1,000 dives, I quit as Master Instructor and decide to go back into the IT business.
In early 1999 I came up with the idea to create an online magazine about scuba diving in the Philippines and published the first “Scuba Philippines” newsletter, send regularly and only by email, in October ’99.
Due to my work, I stopped the newsletter but started in February 2001 the web site www.about-scuba-diving.com.
But again, after one year and back in good old Germany, a long deco-stop. In 2010 I revamped this website. New design, another CMS, and new ideas.
My goals are to promote the Scuba Diver Community on the Internet and to make www.about-scuba-diving.com a rich site in scuba diving resources, content, and in services that are useful and relevant to the needs of the scuba diver community – especially for my second home – the Philippines!
Publishing about-scuba-diving.com online requires the active participation of contributing writers and users.
