MESSAGE
20. April 2001
On behalf of the Department of Tourism, I extend my warmest greetings to the organizers and users of the about-scuba-diving.com web site (ASD).
I also express my appreciation of ASD's inclusion of Philippine diving experiences and travel packages in this website.
Philippine waters host one of the world's most diverse set of aquatic flora and fauna and the information made available through this website would surely increase the level of global awareness about Philippine diving and its wonders.
Our history of contact with early traders from China mainland and the Malay peninsula, as well as from the Western world through the Mexican galleon trade, has also made our waters great diving sites for wrecks and old world treasures.
As an archipelagic country, we have a wide variety of diving sites and facilities that can respond to the diving objectives of the international community -- may they be for science exploration, for high adventure, for aqua-business development or for sporting competition.
We look forward to sharing more information with this website to pursue our tourism goals.
Mabuhay!
RICHARD J. GORDON
